Maru , SUN.STAR NEWS A POLICE official in Bogo City, Cebu yesterday afternoon allegedly shot to death the 17-year-old boyfriend of his daughter. Chief Insp. Ceferino Tabay Jr. , deputy chief of the Bogo City Police Station, surrendered shortly after he allegedly shot Vincent Paul Montesclaros in Barangay Guadalupe at 3 p.m. He was also divested of his 9mm service pistol, the same weapon used in the shooting. Supt. Anthony Bagarinao, Bogo City police chief, said Montesclaros died from gunshot wounds in his head and chest. Tabay brought Montesclaros, who was a first year college student, to the hospital but the minor died before receiving treatment. OFFICIAL LIST OFQUALIFIERS  FOR THE 2013 DOST-SEI SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through the Science Education Institute (SEI) announces the names of the scholarship qualifiers in 2013. The new scholarship awardees must seek admission in any of the priority S&T fields of study at state colleges and universities and CHED-identified Centers of Excellence/Centers of Development. Each qualifier shall receive a notice of award from the DOST-SEI or  DOST Regional Office  stating the date of orientation and  contract signing. He/she shall report at the designated venue with a parent/legal guardian who must bring a 2013 Community Tax Certificate or Official Passport. All of Cebu's fourth legislative district has been flagged as an election "hot spot" after the regional police updated its list of areas where violence could break out during this year's election period. The fourth district takes in the city of Bogo along with the towns of Bantayan, Daanbantayan, Madridejos, Medellin, San Remigio, Sta. Fe, Tabogon, and Tabuelan. Superintendent Paul Labra II, the regional police intelligence chief, said the revised Election Watchlist Areas, or EWAS, came out of the force's ongoing assessment of localities across Central Visayas. Region-wide, the watchlist grew sharply, climbing from 34 to 81 towns and cities. Much of that jump came from folding in every town in Bohol and Siquijor. balita.ph February 6, 2013 CEBU CITY, Feb. 6 — Some 3,000 women in Central Visayas will benefit from two training programs which the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) launched in Mandaue City on Wednesday. TESDA Director General Joel Villanueva said the two training programs are the Sari-Sari Store Training and Access to Resources (S3TAR) and Cash for Training Project (C4TP). Its partners are Coca-Cola Export Corp. for the first program and the Department of Social Welfare and Development for the second program. S3TAR, which started in Palawan last year, is a campaign for women 18 years old and above who run small stores in Palawan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, National Capital Region, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Misamis Oriental and Cagayan. Petron has announced that it has terminated its contracts with 21 of its service stations for selling substandard fuels and passing these off as having come from the petroleum company. According to Petron, it ended its partnership with the said service stations over a 12-month period, from January 2012 to January 2013. "It is our duty to make sure the consuming public only gets Petron's top-of-the-line fuel and lubricant products whenever they go to a Petron station," said Petron vice president for national sales Archie Gupalor. "We do not tolerate these illegal activities and we will continue to go after unscrupulous dealers within our network to ensure the integrity of the Petron brand."
