The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Punta, San Remigio, Cebu capped its SK Night with a lively Hip-hop Dance Contest on August 13, drawing a crowd of Puntahanons who came out to cheer for the competing dance crews. The event was organized by the SK of Punta, headed by Leoji Peloramas Pestaño, together with the PYAP AKO Punta Chapter under Mikela Marie Bohol.
Before the dance contest proper, the program opened with the awarding of winners from the different sports tournaments organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan, recognizing the young athletes who took part in the barangay's earlier competitions.
Ten groups from different parts of Cebu province registered for the contest, but only five made it to the stage on competition night. Easy Cute Guys, Intensity Family, Uncrowned Kings, We Are One, and Streetside Enthusiast each brought their own energy and style to the floor.
When the scores were tallied, Easy Cute Guys emerged as champion. Intensity Family took second place, while Uncrowned Kings finished third.
The performances were judged by a panel of respected educators, choreographers, and dance professionals from across Northern Cebu.
EZ Pestolante, a Secondary Education graduate major in MAPEH, is a Senior High School teacher handling Physical Education and Contemporary Arts at Tambongon Integrated School, where he also serves as MAPEH and Culture and Arts Coordinator. A choreographer, athlete, and contemporary dance enthusiast, he previously handled the Contemporary Dance Troupe at Asian College of Technology for three years.Hannah Lynn Pangan is an educator and cultural advocate from Cebu Normal University with a degree in Secondary Education major in English, and is now pursuing a second degree and a master's in Special Education at Cebu Technological University. She serves as District Cultural Coordinator of San Remigio District 1 and is a faculty member and Dance Troupe Adviser at San Remigio National High School, having also coached a winning team in the hip-hop category.
Ric Russel Abao is a Secondary Education graduate major in MAPEH from Cebu Normal University and a Licensed National Adjudicator Grade D for DanceSport under the Philippine DanceSport Federation Academy. He is the founder and head coach of the City of Bogo DanceSport Team, a national DanceSport champion since 2022, an international gold medalist in Malaysia and Thailand, and a recipient of the 2025 Ani ng Dangal Award from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
John Carl Borbon is a Cum Laude graduate in Secondary Education major in English and a Licensed Professional Teacher who now heads the San Remigio Tourism Office. He is the 4th District Representative of the Cebu Association of Local Tourism Officers and an active gender and cultural advocate in community empowerment.
Beyond the trophies, SK Night was a celebration of youth talent from across Cebu and a proud showcase of what the Sangguniang Kabataan of Punta can pull off when the community gets behind them.
