DepEd Releases Calendar for School Year 2016-2017

The school year 2016-2017 will begin on June 13, and will end on April 7. The school year consists of 202 school days. Private schools may deviate from the calendar; however, they may not start classes earlier than the first Monday of June, and not later than the last day of August. Source: gov.ph

DOST Scholarship Programs

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is devoted to accelerating the development of science and technology for socio-economic development. The Science and Technology (S&T) Scholarship Program is available for both undergraduate and graduate level scholarships, to those who meet the minimum grade requirement and those qualified by the S&T Scholarship Examination. Undergraduate scholarships Once selected as a qualifier, you will be given a notice of award. You and your parent/legal guardian must report to DOST-SEI or at the nearest DOST regional office for the orientation on scholarship policies and signing of the scholarship agreement. PSHS System Entrance Exam Now Open for S.Y. 2015 - 2016

The Philippine Science High School System (PSHS System) is now accepting applicants for the National Competitive Examination (NCE) for school year 2015-2016. Cebu Provincial Capitol Scholarship Aid

The Cebu Provincial Capitol is calling out the valedictorians and salutatorians from public high schools to avail of its scholarship program. They are also automatic beneficiaries of Capitol’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) this summer. Sixty (60) percent of their salary will be shouldered by the Provincial capitol and the remaining forty (40) percent will be come from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 7. According to the province's official website, the students will be working for 30 days in their respective municipalities. They will receive minimum wage as well as overtime pay and incentives during the duration of the program. Application for PSHS National Competitive Examination (NCE) Extended

The Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS) is now accepting applicants for the National Competitive Examination (NCE) for S.Y. 2014 - 2015. Deadline for the filing of application has been extended to August 12, 2013 . The Philippine Science High School System is a Service Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) whose mandate is to offer on a free scholarship basis for secondary course with special emphasis on subjects pertaining to the Sciences with the end view of preparing its students for a Science career.  This is according to Section 2 of Republic Act 3661 that established the first Philippine Science High School campus in 1964. The program is open to all grade 6 pupils who belong to the top 10% of the graduating class or those who have special aptitudes in science and math. Computer Literacy Program for Out-of-School-Youths in Barangay Cayang

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE ) Labor Tripartite Council in Education (LTCE) in coordination with the Industry Tripartite Council-Business Process Management / Information and Communication Technology (ITC-BPM-ICT) will implement a computer literacy program to benefit Barangay Cayang's out-of-school youth (OSY) for this second semester of 2013. Cayang is one of the target Child Labor-Free barangays in Cebu Province . Thirty (30) computer units will be donated to the pilot institution -  Northern Cebu Colleges Bogo City   "To ensure the success of the planned computer literacy program for OSYs, the LTCE-BOT created a committee which was tasked to discuss with TESDA  the details on how this can be accredited, considering the program involves technical skills training requiring the issuance of National Certificate for levels I and II."  - Philippine Information Agency
